2016 American Legion Baseball World Series
The 90th American Legion World Series will take place in Shelby, N.C., August 11-16 with the eight finalists competing for the prestigious title. This event is getting better every year, with record-setting attendance numbers in five consecu-tive seasons. The 2015 World Series saw 117,072 fans come through the Keeter Stadium gates to watch a thrilling event, culminating in a title win for Chapin-Newberry (S.C.) Post 193/24.
With increased television viewership of the semifinals and championship game, ESPN has agreed to expand the cover-age of the event on ESPNU to include Sunday’s Military Appreciation Day, as well.
We hope to see posts across the country having watch parties so Legionnaires and their families can get involved and see our wonderful program on national television.
American Legion Baseball has over 3,700 teams, representing all 50 states participating in the program. It would be a great way for posts to demonstrate the great impact the American Legion has in the community!
